As a third generation builder, Alfred E. Thomson, IV, has learned the values of the areas most respected home builders - his father and grandfather. They founded Thomson Homes and have been designing and building successful communities in the finest areas of Pittsburgh for the past 30 years.

Al founded Arcadia Homes in 1990, in part out of his own vision about what a new home should provide. He says he sees each home as a personal challenge as well as an opportunity. "At every meeting we learn something valuable about design - from our clients point of view. The firm's success" he says, rests on an "...exciting approach that satisfies sophisticated buyers."

Currently, Al is the President of Arcadia Homes and the President of Thomson Properties, past President of the Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh, and was named Builder of the Year for 1994. Al also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Home Builders, Pennsylvania Builders Association, and the North Suburban Builders Association. He has also attended the Graduate Builders Institute to further his understanding of home buyers in today's marketplace. In 1995 Arcadia Homes was the recipient of the Housing Excellence Award for the "Best Home of the Year - Under 3,400 Square Feet."
